The British actor - who is set to be the next Superman in movie Man of Steel - has entered talks to play the as-yet-unknown leading role in the movie, co-written by Love & Other Drugs director Ed Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz. Variety says the story looks at the mystery behind how China's Great Wall was constructed from a story conceived by Legendary Pictures chairman Thomas Tull and Max Brooks. Henry Cavill is in negotiations to star in The Great Wall. They're goal is to produce "one or two event films a year," so this will be a big production, which is obvious with Zwick at the helm and Cavill in the lead. He is known to the public through films such as Stardust and Immortals, his role as Charles Brandon in Showtimes The Tudors from 2007-2010. Legendary East, the Chinese production arm of Thomas Tull's Legendary Pictures partnered with the Huayi Brothers, is producing the film with Zwick, Herskovitz, Tull and Legendary's Jon Jashni along with Atlas Entertainment's Alex Gartner and Chuck Roven. Sounds like an interesting prospect for Cavill, and similar to Christian Bale starring in The Flowers of War. The Great Wall, which is indeed a film about China's Great Wall, is being directed by Edward Zwick ( Love and Other Drugs, Blood Diamond, The Last Samurai, Legends of the Fall) from a script he wrote with Marshall Herskovitz.
